Review: Mastering Darkness (A Forest of Darkness Novel Book 1) by Kate Wendley

*I received this book as an ARC in exchange for and honest review*

Paw Prints Rating: iiiii

Book Synopsis -
A Master Vampire losing his grip on his humanity holds on by his fingertips for love…

The gruesome duties of being the Master Vampire of the Atlanta territory are enough to make Anthony want to turn off his emotions and become the monster he sees in the mirror once and for all, but a flirtatious chance meeting with a beautiful human shocks his heart into remembering sensations he thought he’d long lost the ability to experience. Oblivious to the supernatural world existing in the shadows all around her, Kaia has secrets of her own, though, like why she’s the only human living at Wild Woods, home to Anthony’s bitter foe.

Years after escaping a traumatic past, Kaia finally has a life she’s proud of. The only thing missing from her nice, safe world is love, but any guy she shares even a tiny bit of herself with immediately runs away. She’ll do anything to keep Anthony from being the next one to leave.

Book review -
This is definitely one of the most amazing love stories of all time. Anthony and Kaia both make my heart swell with hopefulness and then turn around break it with their individual sadness'

The feelings they share roll through you like a tidal wave, I laughed and I cried and I got mad at both of them for being stupid and not just telling each other everything. And Ethan's sick amusement of it all irked me SO bad!! I'm sorry but if he cared for Kaia as he claims he would want her to be happy and stop interfering.

Seriously though, about Ethan, he is a total douche!! I get that he holds a grudge and all but this is ridiculous and his obsession about his dead wife...really?? Get over it dude seriously...you have created such a freakish fantasy involving Kaia is disturbing!!

Totally amazing book, and I can't wait to get my hands on the next 2 books!!

Happy Howls (positives):

Gruesome Growls (negatives): Some of the chapters drug on just a hair longer than I'm used to so it did take a bit of time to get through the book.
