This was an ARC given to me in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first time I am reading anything from the author and I am hooked!! This is definitely not your typical paranormal romance. The fight between evil and even worse evil is not a plot twist I was expecting, but it really works with the story. The idea that angels are also complete bastards and about as bad as demons really goes outside the normal scope of what you would expect from and "Angel vs Demon" kind of thing.
The relationship between Riley and Paige is also not expected. I love how this all winds up being a fated story line instead of your typical chance meetings and falling in love. The whole relationship is one that starts out on a point of extreme danger and it really doesn't get much calmer (or safer) for either of them. And I'm pretty sure that our heroine was none too please to be unwittingly marked by an Archangel without her permission although to this point she really hasn't stopped to process that fact.
Riley has got to be one of my favorite book hero's out of all the book I've read in my life. He lives a dark life but down deep has a caring heart he has tried desperately to hide until he met Paige. The dynamic of their relationship is very different then what you would expect as well. Reincarnated Goddess and her Protector.
The danger, the suspense, the deception and the completely unexpected cliff hanger at the end will leave you reeling and chomping at the bit for the next book.
I give this story a BLAZING 5 stars....and I really can't wait to start reading the second book!!!
