Review: Murder of Crows by Heather Hamel

Paw Prints Rating: iiiii

Book Synopsis -

Liam did not want to move – especially into an old, dilapidated farm house. But when Sarah, a fourteen-year-old ghost, asks him to help her solve her family’s murders, he's glad he did. Especially if it means getting closer to the hottest girl in school. Solving a 150-year-old murder is harder than Liam thought, especially when all the evidence points to Sarah, who swears she didn’t do it. Will he solve the murder allowing Sarah to finally rest in peace or will he find out that he’s being haunted by a mentally unstable ax murderer?

Book review -

I can't get over how much I really enjoyed this story.

I love ghost stories and I love history so combining them into a murder mystery as well was amazing.

Typical kid having to move away from everyone he knows, only to be moved to the middle of nowhere. The difference here is he was moved into a haunted house. And not just any haunted house but it's haunted by the spirit of a girl whose family was murdered and think she did it.

Knowing that Liam was grown up about the entire situation and did everything he could the help put the spirit to rest, even after finding out his own family connection, was such an awesome thing to read about, especially with the way teenagers act in general these days.

The especially love that Liam learned about his family history in the process, however the question still hangs in the air...what happened to Nat Greely in those missing 8 months??

Great detail and just a really great story

Happy Howls (positives): Liam getting to team up with his crush Ellie to find who the murderer really was

Gruesome Growls (negatives): As posed above, I really wanted to know what had happened to Nat in the 8 months in between him leaving the south and getting back home to New York...I know it would take some time even on horse back but it would not have taken 8 months.
