Review: Fair Game by Monica Murphy

Paw Prints Rating: iiiii

Book Synopsis -
When your boyfriend bets YOU in a poker game, you better know when to run…

Bad enough Jade Frost’s boyfriend drags her to an illegal gambling house. Even worse that he actually threw her into the betting pot during an intense round of poker…and lost. Talk about the perfect excuse for Jade to make him her ex-boyfriend.

Now she supposedly belongs to the ultra rich, extremely gorgeous Shep Prescott. He could have anything he wants yet he seems to be in hot pursuit of her. No matter how rude, how snarky, how impossible she acts, it doesn’t stop him. More like her horrible behavior seems to make him want her even more.

When she finds herself starting to fall for him, Jade’s confused. There’s more to Shep than the carefree rich charmer he portrays. No way could he want a serious relationship with her…or could he?

Book review -

OK so I wasn't really sure if I was actually going to like this book as it's a bit different then most genres that I read, but every now and again I will find something outside my comfort zone that I really enjoy, and that includes this book.

The first thing I thought when I read the synopsis was Indecent Proposal...lol!!! But it was nothing like that at all!!

The main characters are so well thought out and easy to relate to and it's great to have it set in college.

I absolutely ADORE Jade!!! She is so free spirited but also so very self conscious that it really hit home for me as I totally understood where she was coming from each time she would think negatively about herself or the situation. It really speaks to the author in that she understands how a lot of girls both young and old think, especially due to all the body shaming that goes on today.

Shep on the other hand totally cracks me up and pisses me off all at the same time. However, the transformation within himself that happens as you go through the story is amazing...it's good to see that not all rich boys are complete assholes lol!!

Happy Howls (positives): Shep standing up to his parents in defense of Jade seriously made me cry and I think that's when I finally decided that he was actually a pretty good guy

Gruesome Growls (negatives): I really didn't care for the wager of Jade during the poker game in the beginning, but I can understand it's meaning as I read through and finished the book
